  3. The Problem • Ultrasound machines are very expensive • Some over $100,000 • Only available to hospitals that can afford them

  4. The Solution • Newcastle University • Inexpensive ultrasound • Use on any computer • Through USB port • Cut down manufacturing costs of different components • Transducer • Display

Conclusion • Lets families create their own images from home • Affordable for third-world or poor countries • “Around 250,000 women die each year from complications in pregnancy and childbirth, 99% of them in developing countries, according to the United Nations.” • Affordable ultrasound will reduce this number
