Example of a Motorways of the sea project • Project: RoRo Past France • Consortium: Spliethoff s Bevrachtingskantoor B.V.(lead partner) & Perez y Cia. Group • Action: Motorways of the Sea actie call 2007, EU subsidie: € 6.800.000 • Modal shift objective: 4.856.423.820 tkm • Description: Regular RoRo ferry service between Belgium (Zeebrugge) and North Spain (Bilbao). The service is for non accompanied trailer services.
State of play of the Ro-Ro Past France project • Start of service: 26/09/2007 for 51 months • Modal shift planned: 8,4 billion tkm • Modal shift achieved after 27 months: 680 Mtkm (8,1%) • Difficulties to reach financial break-even. • Started with 2 vessels and 3 roundtrips per week • Five rountrips per week have been implemented but reduced again to 3 • At request of beneficiary, EACI will extend the contract to reach the maximum of 60 months .
State of play of the RoPax FRESMOS project • Start of service: September 2010 for 51 months • Ropax service between the ports of Gijon and Nantes St Nazaire. • 3 roundtrips per year • Modal shift planned: 1,12 billion tkm • Duration: 4 years • Marco PMolo subvention: 4,17 M€ • Waiting for final French and Spanish authorities legal go-ahead
