Forgiveness • What is forgiveness? • Forgiveness is not: • Just ignoring those who wrong us. • More than a refusal to respond in tooth for tooth fashion. • Not ignoring the sin. • Is not putting on probation.
Forgiveness • We can look to God! • Acts 3:19 (NKJV)19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, • Hebrews 8:12 (NKJV)12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”

Forgiveness • How do you cultivate forgiveness? • Hatred and ill-will do you more harm! • Reconsider God’s forgiveness for me when I offended Him. • Ask for God’s assistance. • Recite a portion of the Lord’s prayer while inserting the name of the offender. • Practice praying for offender. • Speak in a kindly manner to others about the offender. • Cultivate mercifulness & compassion.

First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
