Primary Coverage Areas(PCA) • Protect your primary area. • Get every call correct in your area. • Leave your ego at the door - and GET THE OBVIOUS! • Help in secondary areas only when necessary. TRUST YOUR PARTNER.
Double Whistle • Yield to primary. • LANE – Lead probably needs to step up.
Drive to the Basket • When a player with the ball starts a drive to the basket from an official’s PCA, that official has primary coverage of the player and the ball all the way to the basket – even if the ball moves into another official’s PCA.

Rotations • Ball location dictates rotations. • Lead starts rotation based on ball location. KEY: • “Give me a reason NOT to go.” • Center works high with ball on C side. • Better vision of lead ~ smoother rotation. • C can force a rotation with high front court trap coverage. Lead must recognize.

Rebounding • Trail must stay and officiate. • Do not be afraid of getting beat in transition. • Referee the play in front of you.
Off official closest to table will beckon Subs. Off official opposite table could be the closest official to the table. EXAMPLE Throw-In official is trail at division line, table-side Lead official is on the end line, table-side Center official is opposite table and should step towards table and beckon substitutes (not Lead) SUBSTITUTIONS
Calling official goes table side to report fouls. Table side official fills in for calling official, except going opposite direction. No Long switch. NFHS Non-calling officials – WATCH THE PLAYERS. Switches
