International student conference „Safety in local communities-legal and criminological perspectives“’, Podgorica., 4 April 2018 • The drinking habits of residents, and the attitude towards alcohol (access to alcohol) – problematic. • The government has a very tolerant attitude towards drinking alcohol and drinking. • The risky and harmful drinking of alcohol in Slovenia presents problems in many areas of personal and social life.

International student conference „Safety in local communities-legal and criminological perspectives“’, Podgorica., 4 April 2018 • Geographic location can be an important factor in determining a person’s level of risk for alcohol-related problems. • Certain factors associated with living in an urban or rural area may increase risk, while others may be protective. • Example: • norms for acceptable drinking behaviors, • demographic characteristics, • economic factors, • acceptance of alcohol use by society, • availability, • public policies regarding alcohol and enforcement of those policies.

Drug users from smaller towns are also immigrants. • People whose life's get complicated, come to live in Ljubljana, on the street  drug addicts programs. • In small towns, the control over the movement of persons and the possible execution of criminal offences is easier than in larger urban centers with a larger number of residents and a greater flow of people.

International student conference „Safety in local communities-legal and criminological perspectives“’, Podgorica., 4 April 2018 • In the research of National Institute of Public Health on the use of tobacco, alcohol and illicit drugs among the inhabitants of Slovenia • in the last 12 months before the survey, alcohol was consumed as much as 80.6% of the population of Slovenia, aged between 15 and 64. • 18-30 - on the one hand, alcoholism is a big problem, • 46- 60 - a very big problem.

International student conference „Safety in local communities-legal and criminological perspectives“’, Podgorica., 4 April 2018 • Men have the lower levels of fear of crime, so drinking in public places is perceived as if there is no problem. • Compared with women who perceive such behavior as a very big problem.

In USA 10% of drinkers consume over 50% of alcohol. The first thing bought and sold on the internet was a bag of cannabis. II.
