  5. Korematsu V. United States • Refused to leave his home • Supreme Court Ruling = War makes Internment Constitutional • Convicted to 3 years in Prison

  6. Tule Lake, CA • Site of Demonstrations / Riot • Surrounded by 1200 Men with tanks • Deaths / Injuries = Result of Demonstrations

  7. The 442nd Regimental Combat Team • All Japanese-American Unit • 30,000 men served • Nicknamed “The Purple Heart Battalion” • Most decorated unit in U.S History • 10,000 Purple Hearts • 52 Distinguished Service Crosses • 23 Medal of Honors
