Laws for Prevention of Unintentional Injuries: • Seat Belt Laws • OR requires all adult drivers and passengers to wear a seat belt at all times while the vehicle is in motion
“Children over 40 pounds must use boosters to 4'9" tall or age 8 with the adult belt fitting correctly.
Headlight Laws- OR law requires you to have your headlights turned on from sunset to sunrise and any time visibility is reduced to less than 1,000 feet. • Bike Lanes and traffic lights
Helmet Requirements- Regardless of age, anyone riding on a motorcycle must wear a helmet • If you're under 16 years old, you must wear a helmet when riding a bicycle. • Drinking laws-BAC limits for drivers: Under 21 (0.00%- zero tolerance, 21+ 0.08%)
Cell phone use bans- All drivers are banned from using hand-held phones and texting while behind the wheel • All drivers under 18 years old are banned from all "mobile communication" while driving.
Teenager Curfews • Minors under14 years, and not in high school, the curfew is between 9:15 p.m. and 6 a.m. on school days (10:15 pm on Fri and Sat) • Minors 14 and older, in high school, the curfew is between 10:15 p.m. and 6 a.m. (12 midnight on Fri and Sat) • Summary
