Course Description • AP Language and Composition is a college-level writing course • An extensive amount of material will be presented in a limited amount of time • Students are expected to fully participate in all class activities on a daily basis • Individual efforts will be needed to prepare for the exam in May*** (fall vs. spring)
Basic Course Direction/Goals • Will engage students in becoming: • Skilled readers of prose written in a variety of periods, disciplines, and rhetorical contexts • Skilled writers who compose for a variety of purposes (Modes of Writing/Methods of Development) • Will make students aware of: • A writer’s interaction in terms of purpose, audience expectations, and subjects • The way generic conventions and the resources of the language contribute to effective writing
Course Description - Brief Course Summation - It’s not the who?, what?, where?, or when? of writing… It is the HOW? and WHY? of writing!
