  10. A*- A/B Your background knowledge is KEY!!! This should already be in place. • Look at the question carefully- answers should be to the point. • Look at the marks allocated. • Develop points fully (do not waffle/describe unnecessarily) • Give a balanced argument- covering all points evenly. • Analyse fully – use facts and description to prove/support your point. • Link and show interrelationship between causes or consequences. - Do not ASSUME that the examiner knows you know! • You have to WRITE what you know to get the marks!

  15. Example C: Source D There is a surge of women investors: secretaries, heiresses, business women and housewives. In the last ten years the number of women speculators has increased from 2% to 35% of the total number who gambles daily on the stock market. Of course, a woman who wants to take part in the stock market must have money to invest. And she has certainly got that as never before. From an American magazine published in 1929. 4c) Study Source D. Are you surprised by this source? Use the source and your knowledge to explain your answer. (7)

  16. Example C- Key points • To get full marks you should balance your answer- • Argue in DETAIL – yes you are surprised and why? • NO you are not surprised and why? • Give figures and examples as much as possible to add detail to reasons and explanations.
