I • The dress I chose for you is the one I like the most. • Who chose the dress? I • You and I will need to discuss that in private. • Who is doing the discussing? I • “Me” is an object pronoun • Me refers to the object of the action being described in the sentence. • Yesterday, Tom stood me up at the bar. • Who receives the action of being stood up? me • The dress you chose for me is the one I like the most. • Who receives the dress that is chosen? me • You will need to discuss that with me in private. • Who receives the action of the discussion? me

  3. If the blank is the subject, it is “I.” If the blank is the object, it is “me.” • Sam picked ___ up at the train station. (I/me) • Subject? • Object? • Sam is the subject, because he is doing the picking up. So, the blank must be the object. Jessica and _____ went out to dinner. (I/me) Subject? Object? Jessica and the blank are performing the action. They are the subject.
