Tonight’s program • Academic Writing & Research course – Tuesdays in Block 15-111 or Block 5-121 • Discuss Field Trip Story #2 – show Writing in Bed, ARTE 1 and 2 • Discuss writing online stories • Discuss international stories/local versions • Finalize Teams for Team Reports next week • No Class April 25

  3. Academic Writing & Research • Free to you, only this time • In future, students will have to pay for this subject • Karen will help with you your final paper – follow her timing • Extension on final paper in 910 – June 15 is absolute deadline – for those who have attended Karen’s course

  4. Format for all stories • 12 pt Calibri or Arial font • Single space; double space between paragraphs • No indenting for paragraphs • No bold letters • Title same size as text • Full name at top of paper • Make sure computer set left to right, not right to left

  5. Field Trip Story #2 • Requirements: • 400 words maximum • Feature story • Story that couldn’t be done from home/office • Includes interviews • Sources of information provided are identified

  10. Team Reports #1 – cont. • Template for team report – 15 minutes total • Begin by describing international story – be specific • Continue with explanation of local version • Describe interviews • Describe research • Explain what you would do to continue/expand the story if you had more time

  11. Team Reports #1 – cont. 2 • Prepare slides with care • Time presentations • Make actual presentation several times before class • Presentations must be ready when you arrive to class • First round of presentations in 910 was practice • Now you can do the real thing

  12. Team Reports #2 • Due May 2 • Same teams or new ones? • Teams select what they will present to the class • Each team presentation is 15 minutes long • Slides should look professional

For MMC910 Class • April 16: Team Presentation 1 due • April 16: Online Story 2 - feature due by 6 pm • No class on April 23 • April 30: Report due by 6 pm • May 7: extra make up class: first draft of essay • May 30: final version of essay • If in Karen’s class, then final due date is June 15 15
