Three Kinds of Listening: Passive: Hearing music playing in the background while we perform other tasks Unconscious: Hearing “Muzak”, such as elevator music or music played in the dentist’s office and hardly noticing it. Active: Listening to music in a conscious, committed manner in order to experience it fully.

  6. I: Listen for form Large –scale = ABA Minuet Trio Minuet A B A AABB CCDD AABB

  7. II:Listen for tempo and meter Tempo=moderate Meter=3/4

  8. III. Listen for cadences and keys Minuet: A section=F Major, cadence in CM B section=F Major, cadence in FM Trio: A section=C Major, cadence in GM B section=Starts in G M, returns to C for cadence
