What are CLPs? • Continuous Learning Points (CLPs) • All NASA contracting personnel are required to meet new continuous learning requirements. • Required to maintain federal acquisition certification • Required to maintain warrant • Must be job related
Purpose/Value • Acquire new contracting knowledge, including information on revised acquisition policies and procedures • Cross Training to become familiar with other related functional areas (program/project management) • Develop management and leadership skills
How many CLPs do I need? • 80 hours of continuous learning points every 2 years • 40 hours for non-1102s and 1105s with warrants
CLP Reporting Period • First period ended September 30, 2009 • All reporting periods will be two years in duration on a October 1st to September 30th cycle • Not tied to individual certification dates • Current period runs from October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2011 • CLPs must be earned during the actual reporting period • Not like AT&T -- CLPs earned above the 80 within any reporting period do not roll over to the next period!
How Can I Earn CLPs? • Four methods of earning CLPs: • Training • Professional Activities • Education • Experience
Tracking CLPs • Individuals are responsible for their own career development and continuous learning. • Contracting personnel are required to record and track their continuous learning. • Maintain copy of all class completion certificates • Maintain personal record of continuous learning • Ensure that training is recorded in SATERN and/or kept in a log provided by your training coordinator • Ensure SATERN data accuracy
Continuous Learning Series • NASA Acquisition Continuous Learning Series • Courses other than CON courses for certification • Seeks to serve all members of the acquisition workforce with opportunities for training • Three courses currently scheduled • Register in SATERN • Count towards continuous learning • Can also count as an elective if pursuing certification • Training topics can be forwarded to HQ through your training coordinator • Our goal—providing training that’s both timely and beneficial for you
