  2. Patient History • 53 year old White Male • Med History • HIV + • Asthma • Smoker • Meds • Bactrimqd as preventitive • Novir 100mg • Truvada • Zithromax 2 tabs every week

  3. Lesion • A widespread area was found on the hard palate of the patient that contained a red/white lesions with ill-defined borders that were of epithelial involvement. The white plaques could be wiped off.

  4. Patient Dialogue • Have you ever had a similar lesion? • yes • What is your current ANC? • Not known • What is the status of your HIV? • Thought to be under control

  5. Diagnoses • Differential • Candidiasis • Leukoplakia • Provisional • Candidiasis

  6. Causes & Treatment • Patient is HIV positive and therefore immunosuppressed and susceptible to opportunistic infections • Treatment- topical antifungals
