  4. Who are we? • Multidisciplinary group • Nursing staff • Psychologists • Psychiatrists • Voluntary sector • Service users • OTs • Everyone welcome • Meet every 4-6 weeks

  5. How did we come about? • Set up in 2005 after the establishment of the Scottish Personality Disorder Network • Aim of the group was to develop a care pathway to ensure that clients with a diagnosis of personality disorder get the best available treatment with existing resources.

  6. Where we’ve been? • 2006 • Audit by Allyson Turnbull • “Snapshot” of the number of people with PD using the service • Results – 309 people, 1 in 4 of the total client population • Many seen by more than one branch of the service, in extreme cases by up to five.

  7. Where we’ve been? • 2007 • Mapping pathways through the service • Dr Gavin Talbot-Smith • Case note examination of “high service users” • Aim to build “maps” of pathways through mental health services

  8. Where we’ve been? • 2007 • ICP • 2008 • Best Practice Guidelines • Guideline is designed to gel with but be separate from the ICP and is about improving the local service

  10. Where we are going? • 2010 • Education package • Half day session • Aim to produce a modular package which can be adapted to different peoples needs • Easily delivered by different members of the working group • 1st module - basic education • Aim to pilot in May

  11. Where we’re going? • ICP • Awaiting completion of the generic ICP

  12. Summary • Multidisciplinary group • Well established • Have done research into local needs • Produced local best practice guideline • Continue to be involved in the ICP • About to pilot education package
