Long HQ Plans • Following the 2012 DOE review the Long HQ work has been redirected toward RISK MITIGATION for MQXF and significantly reduced • Long coils with cored cable, braided insulation, stainless steel end parts, … • Plan: 2 practice coils, 1 or 2 coils for single test (mirror structure) G. Ambrosio

Long HQ Status • Electrical strength tests on practice coil #1: • Heater-coil up to 5 kV (75 um polyimide) • Impulse test up to 3 kV • Practice coil #2: opportunity for improving winding of marginally stable cables at FNAL • Coil #3 fabrication in progress • Winding w tool & binder • To be tested in spring 2014 G.
