Philip the second Alexander the great. I am writing about these people because they interest me.
Philip the second. • Youngest son of King Amyntas • Captured by the Greeks as a boy. • Philip became leader of the Macedonian army about 2400 years ago. • He conquered Tribalia, Thrace, Scythia, Illyria, Epirus, Northern Greece. • He had six wives. His 3rd wife, Olympias, gave birth to Alexander. He married his 6th wife for love. Her name was Cleopatra. • Family split: Alexander was insulted. • Philip died by being stabbed at his daughter’s wedding in 336 BC.
Philip the second. • Became king at age 21 • Gave all soldiers a Sarissa. (What do you think this is?) • He used diplomacy to solve problems. • He was a leader: won wars, riding skills, good communicator.
Alexander the Great • Parents: Philip II and Olympias • Aristotle was his tutor. • Rhetoric, literature, science,medicine and philosophy. • Became King Alexander III in 336 BC. • AKA: Alexander the Great. • Conquered: Persian Empire, Egypt, India • Horse, Bucephalus, was killed • Married Roxane, a Persian woman • Died June 10, 323 BC
