  2. Area covers over 30,000 SQ Miles Texas Panhandle covers a geographic region larger than a fifth of our nation’s states yet hosts a population of only 600,000 people. Of the 35 counties only five have a population of 20,000 residents or more and two of those five are under 26,000.
