Purpose of Webinar To provide School Food Authorities (SFA’s) with information regarding the three different options available to provide nutritious meals and qualify for federal reimbursement during the summer of 2013.

Security Form for Child Nutrition Technology System If applicable, to add a designated staff for application or claim access in the CN Technology System. Fax Security Form to NCDPI (Jeff Merritt) 919-807-3516. This form with directions for completing is included in your packet.
The Process at a Glance SFA submits the 2013 Statement of Intent SFA submits Declaration of Age Group Document SFA submits Agreement Addendum State Agency (SA) will send an e-mail to SFA to proceed to complete the 2013 SSO Site Applications
The Process (cont) SFA completes and submits 2013 Site Applications (in CN Technology System) SA will review the applications and approve them. A letter approving the SFA to operate the SSO for 2013 will be sent to the SFA
Electronically Completing and Submitting 2013 Site Applications SSO operates on Federal Fiscal Calendar (October 1 – September 30). Applications for summer of 2013 will be keyed in 2012-2013 School Year.
Important Facts Every location where students are fed in the SSO is considered a “site”. For every site, a SSO Site Application must be completed and submitted for approval.Serving Times for meals & snacks.
CN Technology System Tutorial We are going to go into the CN Technology System and I will show you the site application and what items you will need to complete.
Procurement, Menus, and Staffing Remember, the same Federal and State requirements for operating the NSLP in a compliant manner also apply to the SSO.
Transportation, Security, and Adult Supervision These issues should be discussed between the CN Administrator and the respective Superintendent and/or Principal, or Camp Administrator prior to the beginning of operation. Decisions with a plan in place should be effective day one of SSO operation through the last day of SSO operation.
HACCP and SSO The SFA’s HACCP plan for the NSLP also applies to the SSO. If food is being transported for the purpose of the SSO, the SFA’s HACCP plan should reflect this.
Civil Rights Advertise! Advertise! Advertise! Include the Non-Discrimination statement when advertising the SSO and on all printed SSO materials. Finances and Filing Monthly SSO Claims All SSO monthly claims must be filed electronically in the CN Technology System on or before the 10th of the month following the serving month. Remember for the entire summer of 2013 (June, July, and August), for all SSO purposes use SY 12-13.
SSO Reviews Every SSO site must have an On-Site Review conducted by the SFA’s CN Administrator at least once during operation. This review needs to mailed, scanned and e-mailed or faxed to Janice Ezzell within 10 business days of the review. The 2013 review form is included in the SSO packet.
SSO Reviews (State Level) SFA’s with an Administrative Review scheduled for school year 2013-14 will have a SSO review by the CN Services Regional Operations Consultant during either the summer of 2013 or 2014.
