  1. Character Analysis in A Tale of Two Cities Prepare a character analysis essay from the perspective of one of the characters in the text. You choose which character you would like to be. Then analyze one of the other characters in the story from that perspective, which, in essence, gives an analysis of two characters.  Be Creative! Character Analysis Due Thursday, 3-11-20

Think R.A.F.T. • Role: You are the character of your choice describing another character in A Tale of Two Cities. • Audience: Other people who know the full story of Lucie, Dr. Manette, Darnay, Lorry and all the Revolutionaries • Format: Be creative: Letter, Editorial, Journal, formal essay regarding the Revolution, etc. • Topic: Another character in A Tale of Two Cities

  3. Essay ¶ 1 / Question Set 1: • Who is your selected character? • Why did you pick this character? • What do you like and/or dislike about this character? • Do you identify with this character on any level? • Do you know someone similar to him or her? Explain.

  4. Essay ¶ 2 / Question Set 2: • How is this character revealed at the beginning of the novel? • Give two specific examples and include one direct quote that describes this character. • How do these examples show what kind of character he or she is?

Essay ¶ 3 / Question Set 3: • How does this character change throughout the course of this novel? • Give two specific examples and include one direct quote which illustrates a change in the character (i.e. changes in their actions, attitudes, beliefs, or self-concept). • Explain why this change is important to the character.

  6. Essay ¶ 4 / Question Set 4: • Describe the character near or at the end of the novel. • Give two specific examples and include one direct quote which illustrates how or why they have changed. • Do you think the change is for the better or for the worse?

  7. Essay ¶ 5 / Question Set 5:(You have 2 options; select only one.) • Predict what will happen to the character in the future, considering what has been revealed about him or her throughout the novel. • Explain what you have learned through the experiences of this character and how you feel about what this character has been through.
