Overview & Concept • It is essential to understand that the Lo-rad system is simply an addition to existing radiographic equipment and techniques • The Concept is to collimate the radiation beam towards an area of interest. The area of interest is then enclosed with the Lo-Rad Mazel mats. This enclosed system eliminates all unwanted radiation and scatter from the primary beam. • The Lo-Rad system when used in conjunction with a Selenium 75 will reduce “safe working distance” If used correctly, the system will allow you a 1-3 meter barricade and still give you an acceptable reading 7.5 uSv/h • The clear benefit for your client is a decrease in loss of production and down time. Due to the small barricading areas required, the system allows you to carry out radiography continuously for a 24 hour period
How will Lo-Rad benefit you? • Lo-Rad system and technique will assist you in achieving earlier start up of plants • Lo-Rad system will also allow you to meet demands and deadlines of shut downs • With the Lo-Rad system – NO production is lost due to radiography • Lo-rad system will eliminate the need to evacuate personnel • Lo-Rad system will highlight “overhead cost savings” due to NO none productive wages being paid • Using the Lo-Rad system you will NO longer need to plan and manage windows for radiography shifts
Lo-Rad Features • Lo-Rad is a flexible system which fits any shape and size of steel or pipe work. • Lo-Rad operates efficiently under varying temperature conditions -50 to 120 Degrees Celsius • Lo-Rad system is easily attached to any specimen due to the patented self adhesive envelopes • Lo-Rad system allows you to use your existing and standard radiographic equipment, Techops 660, 880 Gammamat TI, TIF etc • NO new techniques! • NO new equipment!
Complete System The case will hold the following • 4 Mazel mats with envelopes • 2 primary beam Mazel mats & envelope • Mazel Outer and standard inner guide tube • Collimator • Ellipse stand • Flash box The system is easily transported on site. With the interior foam cut outs, it is designed to protect the system and your investment. The unit is waterproof and has castor wheels for maneuverability and storing.
Lo-RadMazel Mats • 915 x 305 x 9.5mm • 11.3kg • Lead equivalent of 3.3mm Specifications Flexible!!!
Self Adhesive Mats & Ellipse Stand For work on 2 Inch pipe work - DWDI Allows for required SFD
Mazel Guide Tube & Collimator • 39mm od – 19 mm id • 8 kg • Max Temp – 120 Deg • Length 1.5m Specifications Tungsten Collimator Standard Guide Tube Flexible! Mazel Guide Tube Shield
Mazel Flash Box • For Techops or Gammamat • Flash Box weight 11Kg Specifications • The Mazel Flash Box is designed to reduce any flash radiation which might be emitted when the source is wound out
Step by Step Step 1 Attach Guide Tube to Isotope/Container Step 3 Attach collimator to weld or specimen Step 5 Expose Weld Step 2 Insert Isotope/Container into Flash Box Step 4 Enclose collimator and weld with Mazel Mats
Source – Se75 (Not supplied with system) • Se75 has a more softer gamma ray spectrum than Ir192 • Se75 has a significantly longer half life than Ir192 • Se75 will give you better contrast and improved sensitivity over Ir192 • Se75 works at optimal working range of 5-30mm FE • Se75 has real performance benefits when used with Lo-Rad system providing better radiographic quality • Typically at least 1 additional IQI wire is seen on radiograph
Barrier Distances & Demarcated Areas • Traditionally while using Ir192 and no shielding, large areas have to be cordoned off, up to 80 meters • With the LO-Rad system & Se75 only 1 to 3 meters is required to be Demarcated and cordoned off • With the correct Lo-Rad procedure used. At a distance of 1 to 3 meters a reading of 7.5 uSv can be expected
Services We offer our clients 2 options • Option 1- Clients who have Se75 • These clients may make an out right purchase of our system. This will allow you to offer the benefits to any of your customers at any time. • Option 2- Clients who do not have Se75 • These clients can rent any number of systems systems from us. • We offer the full system, all relevant equipment including mats, guide tube, Se75 Isotope as well as Technicians. • We will provide the full service, Radiographs, Processing film, Interpretation and Reports.
