Ephesians 3:1-6 "Transforming Aliens for His Kingdom”
Review of Ephesians: • Chapters 1-3 - Our WEALTH in Christ, Calling • Chapters 4-6 – Our WALK in Christ, Conduct OR… • 1-3 Leader Section: WHY we do what we do. • 4-6 Manager Section: HOW to do it.
Chapter 2… • He made us alive in Him. (vs 5) • He brought us near. (vs 13) • He made the two ONE and destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility (vs 14) • So that – even we foreigners & Aliens could know Him better! (vs 19) • To become His Holy temple (vs 21) • (…and what was OUR part in all this?)
Remember Ben’s “Before & After” illustrations of “Transformation”…?
Individual& Corporate Transformation • Individual – willing to learn when I didn’t know I could? • Deut 32:11 • Like an eagle that stirs up its nest • And hovers over its young • That spreads its wings to catch them • And carries them on its pinions.
Corporate Transformation • Ephesians 4:11-12 • I Cor 12:7 this manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good; • Wisdom • Knowledge • Faith • Healing • Prophecy • Discernment…
Vs 1 • For THIS reason, I Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles… • Paul as an EQUAL of Gentiles • Paul as a PRISONER for theirsake • Transformed from the early “Paul” - people tried to kill
Ch2:22, 3:2 Unified as Equals GRACE => Freedom LOVE => Motivation
Mystery Vs 6? • Is not the INCLUSION of the Gentiles • Is the EQUALITY of Gentile and Jew
Hindrances to Our Unity • Is there a Dividing Wall of Hostility in my: • Personal relationships? • Relationship with God? • Am I my own “dividing wall” in my relationship with God? Am I willing to let Him have ALL of me? • Is it, “All about you Lord” until He asks something of me? • Does FEAR prevent me from relating with God as He desires? Fear of…. • Embarrassment? • Failure? • Rejection? • Am I willing to serve and let Him transform me for HIS purposes? (and maybe….at times…be recognized for it?)
Are we willing to serve? • To say to Him, “Here – take ALL of me!” • Willing to embrace each other’s strengths AND weaknesses as… (vs 6) • heirs together • members of ONE body • Sharers of His promises • Even if I feel “ALIEN” am I willing to let God TRANSFORM me, for HIS purposes? • Is there any fear holding me back…?
