It is not our job to merely control our children’s behavior, but instead we are called to create a spiritual life for him/her.
What is your goal in raising each of the children God has entrusted to you? How will you create environments in your home that will reinforce that goal? Who does God require you to be as a parent?

Discipline is intended to deepen life. • Discipline is setting limits • Discipline is redirecting emotions in a positive direction. • Discipline protects • Discipline provides a safe way to explore life.
Children will align their behavior according to your expectations for a season. However, that season will come to an end one day if they have not internalized Biblical values for themselves – that is, these values have been made real for them and not for the sake of their parents.

Responsibility confronts self-centeredness. Somewhere along the road of life our children will fail. But this does not define them. Their failures are something they did, not something they are.
You can’t give away what you don’t have. You can’t model what you haven’t experienced for yourself.
Every day you make a deposit into your legacy with God. This spiritual inheritance you leave for others is the bit of you that counts for eternity.
