  1. What is College? If you go to college without a realistic view of what to expect, a lot of time (and possibly money) will be lost as you adjust to college realities. The following questions let you check to see if you have accurate ideas about college.

  3. Question 1 College is a lot harder than high school. False A major difference between college and high school involves the amount of freedom and responsibility students are given. Students in college need to be disciplined enough to organize their so called “free” time so that everything gets done.

  4. Question 2 It is impossible to go to college if you or your family have not saved a lot of money. False Financial aid in the form of grants, loans and scholarships can help pay for college.

  5. Question 3 A four-year college is always a better choice, if you can do it, than a two-year college or a trade. False Many career fields only require a two-year degree so students should explore either option. Students need to look for the school that best meets their career goals.

  6. Question 4 It is necessary to know what career you want before applying to college. False Students can begin college as an “undecided” student. Most college offer classes to help students with career planning.

  7. Question 5 You must know your Major in order to apply to college. False A majority of students in all colleges and universities change their major at least once in their college careers; and many change their major several times over the course of their college career.
