  2. Planning your Trip to The Franklin Institute They Make Planning Easy Prior to your trip • The Franklin Institute provides teachers with A personalized field trip planning concierge. Planning is Easy • The Franklin Institute makes connecting to the curriculum easy • Students can read books about the titanic to familiarize themselves with the story • Students will research about the titanic • Compare contrast the different classes • Develop and understanding for what life was like in 1912 • Plan lessons accordingly

  3. Programs Offered for Specific Grade Levels and Content Areas: • The Titanic Experience is suitable for students in grades 3-12. The Titanic Experience will allow students to travel in time to when the unsinkable Titanic was built. In the IMAX movie Titanica, students will have the opportunity to dive to the great ships remains at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Students will also gain insight into the technology used by scientists and historians to locate the remains and gather the artifacts they will see in the exhibit. In this experience, students will also take part in the Submarine Challenge, where they will make create their own submarines devices to discover if they will sink or float. • Costs: Price include entrance to the museum and the Titanic Exhibit, the IMAX movie and the hands-on workshop. $22.75 per student; $20 per chaperone • Provisions for Lunch: The Franklin Institute has lunch vouchers available for purchase. Hot Lunch is $6.50 and students can choose a hot dog or pizza, chips and a beverage. Bagged Lunches include a sandwich, chips, fruit, cookie, and a beverage. Additionally, reservations can be made for a Lunchroom for $25.

The Experience • Become a passenger and travel back in time to 100 years ago, where authentic artifacts and interactive storytellers in period costume allow you to visit the unforgettable sights, sounds, and emotions of most famous Ship ever to set sail, Titanic. • This 17 gallery tour includes full scale room re-creations where you visit Titanic's Grand Staircase, First Class Parlor Suite, Boilers, Captain's Bridge and Promenade Deck offering a haunting, emotional connection to lives abruptly ended or forever altered. • more than 400 unique pieces of memorabilia and 100 artifacts recovered from the wreck site of Titanic- 21 of which have recently completed conservation and are on display for the first time. These celebrated pieces include a 3-ton portion of the Ship's hull, the Captain's wheel and personal belongings from Titanic's passengers and crew.

After the Field Trip • Students will write about their experience: how they feel, what part of the exhibit they connected with the most, overall impression of the exhibit, etcetera • Students could Conduct further Research who they were during the experience • Connect it with science and their hands-on experience at the exhibit • Hold a Titanic Mock Trial • The possibilities are endless!
