Language Arts/Writing We worked on using is and are correctly in sentences this week. In writing, we practiced writing describing stories. Next week, we will work on writing in our Christmas books. Reading Next week, we will be doing Christmas activities related to reading to help us practice the skills we have been working on, but yet get us in the Christmas spirit at the same time. There will be no spelling list or reading test on Friday. Writing Corner: This week students took their post-assessment in writing. This post-assessment was a narrative where the students practiced their story-telling skills. Elementary grades wrote a statement describing their favorite toy and explaining why it was their favorite. ~Mrs. Keller Science We are wrapping up our freezing and melting unit this week. Next week, we will be doing another science experiment with freezing and melting that the kids will sure think is yummy!  Thanks to all who came to support the kiddos in their Holiday Music Program on Thursday. They did an amazing job on stage!  Our field on Wednesday was a huge success! I will be adding pictures on the class website very soon…so check it to see all the fun we had! The kiddos really enjoyed exploring the museum and doing the activity on Jan Brett’s book The Three Snow Bears. Addition and Subtraction This week we did fact families, related addition and subtraction facts, and some activities with base ten blocks learning about tens and ones. They loved using the base ten manipulatives to create numbers. We had an out of this world day on Friday for students on green or above. They made snowflake ornaments to take home. I hope you found a special spot on the Christmas tree for it! Social Studies We discussed the first Americans this week where we learned about Native Americans. Addition facts are on the back for practice….we seem to have the same kids winning prizes everyday for top scores or most improved….please use this tool for practice and let’s try to get some new winners!
