  2. The problem with Scripture – Getting our heads around “the word of truth” “Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who doesn’t need to be ashamed and one who correctly explains the words of truth” 2 Tim 2:15 (NLC)

Some of the problems that people have with scripture • “the Bible is full of myths and made-up stories • “The Bible is full of contradictions” • “The Bible is full of contradictions” • “The Bible says different things to different people” • “The Bible has been disproven by Science” • “The Bible supports regressive practices”

The purpose behind Scripture – Enhancing our lives through “God – breathed” truth “Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another – showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the word we are put together and shaped for the tasks God has for us” 2 Timothy 3:16,17 (T.M)

Enhancing Truth of God-breathed Scripture • Frees us from narcissism (2 Timothy 3:15) • Frees us from unhealthy attachments (2 Timothy 3:6-12) • Provides us with authentic models (2 Timothy 3: 10-15) • Develops within us – Understanding, conviction, realignment and Christlikeness (2Timothy 3:16,17)
