  2. HURSTWOOD CHURCH NOTICES. WC Sunday 20th September 2009. A warm welcome to everyone. This is the online version of the notices displayed at the front of church on a Sunday morning at the beginning of the Sunday service this week. – therefore some notices may not be relevant to online viewers. Don’t forget that details of all our services and activities can be found on the Church website at www.hurstwoodchurch.org.uk.

  3. Monthly Diaries. Please note that the monthly diary for October is now available. Please take a copy from the table in the tea room. The diary lists the dates and times of all our services and activities for the month. A copy of the current monthly diary is also on our website : www.hurstwoodchurch.org.uk

  4. Next Week’s Rota

  5. Extraordinary General Meeting for Church Members. Please note that an EGM will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday 20th September and Sunday 27th September for those in Church membership. Will all members endeavour to attend the EGM on one of the above dates.

  6. Harvest Service. Please note that next Sunday (27th September) will be our Harvest service and part of the morning’s collection will be donated to the Barnabas registered charity. For more information about the charity please see Mary Cliff or feel free to read the literature available on the table in the tea room.

  7. Rob Whittaker Bible Study. Please try your best to attend the Rob Whittaker Bible Study series on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th week in October and 1st week in November – Tuesday nights at 7:30pm. Rob’s study will focus on “Moving the Church from average to awesome” and will potentially have significant impact on our Church at Hurstwood. Don’t miss it !

  8. Arts & Crafts Event. Please register your name on the list on the back of the tea room door if you wish to attend the Arts & Crafts day led by Heath Stockburn on Saturday 31st October 11:00am – 3:00pm. Refreshments will be available. Entry is free, but a donation bowl will be made available. Please see Heath for further details. Names need to be submitted by 18th October.

  9. Over 50s Meal. Please register your name on the form on the back of the tea room door if you wish to attend the over 50s meal on 2nd October. Please see Mary Cliff if you are willing to help. Helen Shapiro Event. Please note that Helen Shapiro will be appearing at Sion Baptist Church in Burnley on 17th October. Tickets are £5 each and can be purchased from Mary Cliff.

  10. Church Christmas Party. The Church Christmas party will be held on Friday 4th December at 7:30pm in the Dr. Iven Suite at Burnley Football Club. Cost of tickets is: Adults - £13.00 11 – 16 yrs and OAPs - £6.00 Infants and Juniors - £3.00 Pre-school – Free of charge. Please buy your tickets from Sue Bentley before 15th November.

  11. Samaritan Purse. Please register your name on the form, on the notice board in the tea room, if you would like to help with the Samaritan Purse project. Please see Sue Grimshaw if you need further details. Olive Grove Project. Please pass clothes for the Olive Grove Project to Sue Bentley by 1st November. Winter clothes only please. Financial contributions towards cost of shipping will be gratefully received.

  12. Church Rota. Please note that the rota for beginning of October to the end of December was handed out on Sunday 13th September. Please see Sue Bentley if you are involved in any of the duties listed below and did not receive a copy: Cleaning. Kitchen. Flowers. Sunday School. Creche. Preaching.

  13. Street Pastors. Street Pastors is a new initiative which has been introduced to the UK and which has seen the British police force turn to the Church for help in tackling social problems encountered in many towns and cities. The Burnley police force have requested a Street Pastors team to be established in the town. Please see Eddie Cliff for further details, or if you are interested in becoming a volunteer.

  14. Prayer Requests. • Please continue to pray for healing for Nancy Sharples, Lynne Lord, Brian Lord, Sue Grimshaw, Mark Jefferson, Agnes Torz Margaret Jackson, Ivan Walsh, June Lord, Donna Riley’s Mum (Jean), Damola’s Mum, Esther (John Sansom’s little cousin) and Harry Marsden (Tracy’s Grandad). • Please pray for Richie Norman (Paul Thornton’s friend) who has recently been diagnosed with stomach cancer. • Please pray for Nathan Mark & Kyle Ingham who have started senior school and for Ben Sansom, Jimmy Fort and Hannah Burrows who have started infant school. • Please pray for all our students - Heidi Gastall, Mikey Glass, Will Stockburn, Liz Green, Paula Sanderson and Josh Cliff.

  15. Congratulations to Kike & Damola. Congratulations to Kike & Damola Moronkeji on the safe arrival of Imisioluwa Isabelle who was born on 29th August at 6:30am weighing 7llb 3oz. Imisioluwa means breath of God in Nigerian. Please pray for Kike, Damola and Imisi (which will be used as an abbreviation) as they start their new journey together.

  16. Congratulations to Lesley & Mick. Congratulations to Lesley & Mick on the safe arrival of Fiona Chelsea who was born on 2nd September at 12:20am weighing 6 pounds. Please pray for Lesley, Mick and Fiona as they start their new journey together.

  17. Security Notice. If you are the last person to leave the building please ensure that the boiler has been switched off, the heating has been turned down, that ALL external doors are bolted or locked (whether you have used them or not) and that all lights are turned off. Many thanks. Health and Safety Notice. Please would everyone ensure that the children’s toys, that are in the tearoom, are removed once Sunday School has finished (i.e. dolls prams, bricks on wheels etc. that are at risk of being ran into the back of people ). Thank you.

  18. Car Park Notice. Please note that no cars should be parked in front of the Farmer’s gate, or on the bridge leading to the car park. Car parking spaces in front of the Church should be reserved for the elderly or those with walking difficulties.
