  3. Fuel Minima • Mostly unchanged since 1948 • “a reserve shall be carried to provide for contingencies” • No inflight fuel management provisions • Dispatch to an aerodrome without an alternate permitted

Fuel Minima cont. • New definitions • Prescriptive approach versus performance based • Minima for destination alternate more conservative • New minima for the destination alternate • Destination alternate two runway requirement • EDTO fuel requirement • In-flight fuel management provisions • Final review next Session

  5. Extended Diversion Time Operations • EDTO replaces ETOPs • State of the Operator establishes “threshold time” (60 to 90 minutes two engines and 180 threes and fours) • Extended diversion time shall not exceed the capability of any time-limited system

  6. North and South Pole Areas(EDTO) • Established by State of the Operator • En-route adequate alternates • Recovery Plan • Cold weather anti-exposure suites • Attachment “K” – alternate should be capable of protecting the safety of all pax and crew • Preliminary review next session

  7. HUD, EVS and Electronic Flight Bags • Brings provisions up-to-date with developments in the industry • Broad in scope to take into account variations in the industry • Quality control for EFB • Coordinated with AIRP • Final review next session

  8. Terminology Harmonization • Primarily: • Engines (Annex 6 and 8) • Propulsion Systems (ETOPs) • Powerplant (Annex 8) • Certification: damage tolerent and flight safe • Responsibility of the State of Design of modifications • Draft Report to Council next session

  9. The “AOC Issue” • Standardized content for AOC and OP SPECS applicable November 2008 • Newly issued AOCs standardized layout applicable November 2008! • All AOCs standardized layout applicable 1 January 2010! • New applicability date proposed October 2008…State Letter

  10. Language Proficiency • Assembly Resolution calls for compliance no later than 5 March 2011 • State Letter: 70 replies…all indicating compliance by 2011 • Report back to Assembly…draft paper this spring • HELP!
