Explore the research findings on solar, wind, and hydro power simulation conducted by students at McKinney High School. Learn how these renewable energy sources can power LED lights and homes. Design a simulated 24-hour power supply system using solar panels, hydrocells, and wind turbines with provided brainstorming sketches and wiring diagrams.

Power Simulation By: David Lehinger, Jarod Moore, Gus Franco McKinney High School 11-21-2014 POE (Principles of Engineering)
Research Summary • Jarod Researched Solar power to find that, when simulated in our system, powers up to 2 residential LED’s, and, When powered in real life, can power an entire home • Gus Researched Wind power to find that, when simulated in our system, assuming to spin the crank fast, can produce up to 5 LED’s, and, When use in real life can power 2 to 5 homes per turbine (assuming its windy enough) • David researched the hydro fuel cell, only to find that it barely produces enough to power 1 LED, therefore we dumped it, although in real life they can manage to be amazing batteries for other power sources
Design Brief • Client-Residential and Industrial • Design Problem- Create a 24 hour simulated power supply/demand system • Constaints-Using (2)Solar panels and/or (2)Hydrocells and/or a wind turbine create a simulated 24 hour demand cycle Shown below
