Diocese of LincolnEducation Technology Initiative • Benefactor started in 1996 • Provide technology to schools: lab computers, laptops, servers, printers, projectors, SMARTboards, network, tech support, server/network support, email, student information system, backup service, training, web filtering. • Grant type funding – request items on MAP (monthly action plan) every 2 months. If funded, then purchased for schools. • Conditions of Participation - Standards that we must comply with: network, computers, servers, software, tech purchasing, ISP.

Communication through Technology • Web site – new look this August • ParentConnect – now working properly since early November after Pearson update released Nov 2nd, 2009 • Phone system – Cisco phone system • Email – all parent emails “This Week at Pius”, teacher emails to the student parents • Print – report cards, newsletters, mailings

Also computer magnetism/frequency and distance from labs.

ComputersEstimated total: 305 • 5 Windows 2003 Servers (AD1, AD2, File, web, and media) • Faculty/Staff Use: (110 total) • 4 Desktops in Teacher Lounge for general use • Every teacher and administrator has a Diocesan issues laptop • Desktop for administrative assistants and laptops for other staff. • 4 Desktop – 1 Teacher workstation in each lab • Student Use: (177 total) • 4 Labs (25+30+25+30=110 desktops) • 3 COWs (15+15+15=45 laptops) • 13 Desktops in Library • 4 Desktops in Guidance office • 5 Desktops in 4 classrooms • Other areas: (28 total)

COWs (Cart On Wheels) • 3 COWs from Dillion Grant. 2007 received 2 COWs • A COW ($25k) is 15 laptops, 15 mice, 1 printer, 1 wireless access point, & a 5 port switch. • Science department has 2 COWs. • Social Studies department has 1 COW. • Pius has secured funding for at least 2 more COWs. We just received 1 COW funding at the end of November and the other will come mid February, both via Pius donors to the Foundation office.
