2020 Away Day Follow Up Actions • Student Engagement: Pupil Curriculum Committee • First Young Co-operative forming;Year 7 Boyswith Paul Miller • Students have been consulted over the design of their new student planner • 2 day “Kagan” training – Co-operative Learning principles for 2 key staff to roll out across all Year 7 September 2013 as part of ACE days. • Student Voice – Year 10 have been consulted over preferred Sixth Form choices to help shape the offer • Started consultation process on the structure of school day, 5 or 4 periods with only one in the afternoon • Pupil feedback will form part of the Action Research Projects undertaken by staff next year
2020 Away Day Follow Up Actions • Student Engagement: Pupil Curriculum Committee • Year 10 heavily involved in 3 panels for Head of Year 10 interview • Pupil Curriculum now established, initial focus is on Co-operative Learning ( their choice!)
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions Sixth Form: We need a Greater Range of Courses A Pupil Curriculum Council to help decide on Courses and Learning • Student Voice – Year 10 have been consulted over preferred Sixth Form choices to help shape the offer • Year 10 have taken advantage of the ‘Deep Learning’ subject days to encourage aspiration Post 16 • Subject offer for 2013 Agreed. Majority of students in Year 10 have been consulted regarding course offer for 2014. • Foundation Level Course is underway with framework of course content – Potential students and parent consultation has taken place. • “Employability Passport” Level 2 Course offered 2014.
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions • Teaching: Moderate Class Work across KS2 and KS3 • Work Scrutiny undertaken with key English staff and the 4 Trust Heads • Teaching: Continue Good Practice re Literacy in feeder schools • Now have an appointed Assistant Headteacher, Paul Talarico to take this work further
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions Continue Good Practice re Literacy that begins in feeder Schools, e.g. Reading Cards, Guided Reading • Year 6 – Year 7 Literacy transition project initiated with all Trust Primaries and Southville Primary • Whole School Literacy work scrutiny undertaken and CPD workshop delivered.
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions Marketing: Profit making sports facilities • A small range of Adult Education courses will be trialled by the Sports Centre next academic year • Tennis Court re-surfacing agreed, to be completed January 2014
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions Marketing: Showcase our internal talent • Ashton unplugged 2013 was a great success • Reviewing format of Awards Evening for 2014 • UWE students and Real Ideas Organisation worked with with Year 9 students in an Ashton Park Dragons Den. The challenge was the best ideas to promote the school in the Community – Student Voice • To investigate methods to publicise ‘successes’ at APS - New School video for 2013-14 finished in time for Open Evening
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions Marketing: Continued Improvements in Marketing Ashton Park School • Answerphone changed to Year 8 Girl and Boy answering • APS App now in the Apple and Android Store • Fantastic new School video for 2013-14 completed • We have received quotes for radio ads which are being considered.
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions Marketing: Let pupils go into Primary Schools to help with Maths and English • This has been put in place for September 2013. We will have two groups of pupils working with our trust primary schools with a focus on numeracy as well as literacy
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions • Marketing: Run an allotment with community involvement – use the produce in our kitchens • Mark Bessell will be working with nurture group on the gardening area. • We have received 40 saplings from the Woodland Trust.
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions • Community: Make the School more accessible to Neighbours • Attending BARA Neighbourhood Meetings regarding Neighbours and School relationship. We are currently fact finding and taking advice as a follow up to previous meeting; specifically regarding the use of entrances at the back of school
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions Community: Photography Club • 2 new GCSE photography classes have been created to begin study in September 2013
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions Building: Finish the rebuild to give pupils the facilities they deserve • Sub-group met on a number of occasions with regard to the re-build (Staff and Governors) • Investigating options for joint capital ventures with Trust Partners Bristol City FC • We have developed a Memorandum of Understanding and are exploring ways we can work together.

2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions • Building: Dedicated area for companies to advertise part-time jobs • We have dedicated noticeboards for employment, careers info and guidance. We now need to make improved links with local employers • Inaugural Ashton Park Careers Fair with local employers planned for January 2014
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions • Sixth Form: What are our Unique Selling Points • USP’s reviewed, marketing materials updated and featured in the Evening Post ‘A’ Levels Results feature. • Booked into West of England Sixth Form Manual 2014 • Radio Ad quotes obtained, but costly and therefore being reviewed in terms of budget and economic climate
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions • Marketing: Create sellable products in DT Marketing: Develop a unit of work for Opening Minds focussed on Social Enterprise • We are using the Real Ideas Organisation to help us plan our new Opening Minds Curriculum for Year 7 next year( now called ACE) and each unit will contain a Social Enterprise Qualification
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions • Encourage local bands and under 18 bands to use the recording studio to investigate current provision to replace missing items • Component parts identified and order being considered
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions • Sixth Form: Provide Apprenticeships as part of 16-19 Education • For 2014 First Step to employment and training opportunity provision in place. ‘Employability Passport’ being developed for level 2 courses. Tentative links with Apprenticeship provisions made
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions • Community: Teach our inclusive values around the community educating the community on race and gender equality • PSHE now integrated to Year 7-9 tutor programme and Ace Programme, as well as lessons in Year 10 and 11
2020 Away Day • Follow Up Actions • Community: More investment into Co-operative membership to create value for the School • A meeting between Membership Secretary, Company Secretary and Chair of Trust to discuss strategy for re-vitalising membership took place on 24 April 2013 • A mailing and newsletter will go out September to all members of staff, parents and pupils in the four partner schools – outlining their automatic right to membership of the BS3 Trust – and what this means in terms of representation on the Forum and involvement in determining the direction taken by the Trust • Steve Smith leading strategic development of the Trust and Co-operative Identity Mark
