  3. Setbacks In 1996 he came down with bronchitis and then testicular cancer Spread to abdomen, lungs, lymph nodes, and brain 40% of survival

  4. Faith Chemotherapy Declared cancer-free in February 1997 His sponsor, Cofidis, canceled his contract and $600,000 annual salary Lance was determined to race competitively again though

  5. Champion From 1999 to 2005, Armstrong won seven consecutive Tour de France titles

  6. Drugs During Lance’s successful career he was consistently accused of drug use. In 2012 Lance said, "I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in winning my seven Tours since 1999. The toll this has taken on my family and my work for our foundation and on me leads me to where I am today—finished with this nonsense.”
