  1. How Many Seniors Are On March Towards Graduation? Miriam Cordova Marcela Lopez Angelly Baltazar Period:3 March 19,2013

  2. California Standards • 8.0 Students organize and describe distributions of data by using a number of different methods, including frequency tables, histograms, standard line and bar graphs, stem-and-leaf displays, scatter plots, and box-and-whisker plots. • 17.0 Students determine confidence intervals for a simple random sample from a normal distribution of data and determine the sample size required for a desired margin of error. • 18.0 Students determine the P- value for a statistic for a simple random sample from a normal distribution

  3. Hypothesis We believe that the average number of seniors on march towards graduation is 90%-95%.

  4. Data Collection • Sampling technique used, and describe briefly about the sampling process • Example: We will collect data by using the random sampling method. We asked 102 senior students at Century

  5. Data • Number of students asked (seniors) • 69 seniors said they are on march to graduation • 33 seniors said they weren't on march to graduation

  6. Statistics • From our survey, senior sample that are on march to graduation has the sample proportion is 69/102=67.65%

  7. Confidence Interval • 95% Confidence Interval • 1 prop z-interval • (58.57% ~ 76.73%) • We are 95% confident the population proportion of the seniors on march to graduate is between 67.65% ~ 67.65%.

  8. Hypothesis Testing Hypothesis Test Statistics Conclusion At 5% level of significance, we failed to reject . There is enough evidence to support our claim.

  9. Error Analysis • •Our sample population prop portion is 95% confidence level for the population of the senior on march to graduate is between 58.57%-76.73%. • •Our sample error is due that we did not ask all the senior of the population. We might need to take more samples due to students absences.

  10. Conclusion • •We are 95% confident that the population proportion of the seniors on march to graduation is between (58.57%-76.73%).
