ADMINISTRATION Enforcement Policy for Biological Safety Multi tiered system for minor and major offences: • Offences are defined in policy and range from high risk to minor offence • Levels of Enforcement range from verbal warning from BSO to revocation of Internal Certificate • Appeal procedure in place RYERSON UNIVERSITY

ADMINISTRATIONDepartmental Chairs • Responsible for providing adequate facilities, equipment, and supervision to control biological hazards • Comply with University’s biological protection requirements • Ensure that faculty, staff and students receive training as prescribed by the Biological Safety Program RYERSON UNIVERSITY

ADMINISTRATION Certificate Holder Responsibilities • Responsible for biological safety program in their lab • Certificate Holders, through an Internal Certificate responsible for work performed under their direction in the labs by following the prescribed procedures in the Biological Safety Manual RYERSON UNIVERSITY

ADMINSTRATION Authorized User Responsibilities • Working safely and in adherence with Biological Safety Manual • Following lab protocols for experiments • Using protective equipment • Reporting to Certificate Holder: • defective equipment • violation of safety procedures • unauthorized release of materials RYERSON UNIVERSITY
