1. Choose a FIFA World Cup Competition to research and communicate when and where the competition was held. Communicate this in your introduction. The 2006 Fifa World Cup was Held in Germany. In the year 2000 Germany was selected to host the 2006 Fifa World Cup. 32 teams attended this event. Including Italy, Netherlands, France, Germany, Portugal and other teams. The Fifa world Cup is the most watched events of football history on TV.
2.Who were the finalists, who won, include the score. The finalists were Italy and France. The score was 1:1. Penalty scores (5-3). Italy won by a penalty shoot-out and the scorer was Fabio Grosso.
Using the Internet research the actual game itself and answer the following questions. • A - What was the scoring sequence and who scored? In the first half the score was 1-1. The first Italian goal was scored by Marco Materazzi, and it was a corner kick kicked by Andrea Pirlo. The first French goal was scored by Zinedine Zidane, and it was a penalty shoot.
B - Choose 1 of the goals and describe using Football terminology the sequence of play leading up to the goal. It was a corner kick, kicked by Andrea Pirlo (Italy MF), header by Marco Materazzi; the ball went to the left side of the goal post. Pirlo has a good swerve and he was aiming it in the exact position he wanted it to be.
C – What could the defense have done to more effectively try and stop the goal being scored? There was nothing the defense could’ve done because their positions were very good they were protecting their goal and the only thing they could’ve done is concentrate more on the ball.
D – Using the same scoring sequence what individual skills have been used by the attacking team? Both attacking teams were pushing forward and were always attempting to score a goal, even when they first started the game. Both teams were tough teams they played really hard and they try their best into getting their chance to score a goal.
E – Was there any movement ‘off the ball’ by other attackers to draw defendersBoth teams were always moving and trying to find space even though they did not have the ball, but they were strongly always trying to find some space to score a goal.
