  2. Introduction The FIFA world cup is the world’s largest football gaming tournament. It has been held every 4 years ever since 1930. It is when players from all around the world compete, hoping to be crowned the new FIFA World Champions. The 2010 FIFA world cup finalists played in Johannesburg, South Africa on July 7th 2010.

  3. Who were the finalists? • Spain came first. • Netherlands came second. • Germany came third. • Uruguay came fourth.

  4. What was the scoring sequence and who scored? None of the teams had scored in the first or second half of the game, so they got extra time to see who will be the champions. Andres Iniesta dribbled the ball up to the goal and scored. The match automatically ended right after Iniesta had scored, making Spain the winning team. The Score was: NED 0-1 ESP.

  5. The sequence of play leading up to the goal. Fernando Toress (who came for a tired David Villa in the start of the second half) is on the left wing, he kicks the ball to CescFabregas(who is also a second half sub). Van der Vaartthen gets the ball and tries to pass but fails; CescFebregas got the ball. Cesc Febregas then passes it to Andres Iniesta, who is on the right side of the goal. Iniesta gets control of the ball; he dribbles it, Stekelenberg tries to stop the Ball but Iniestais able to get the ball through the goal in the 116th minute.

  6. What could the defense have done to more effectively try and stop the goal being scored? The Netherlands gave Spain a lot of space to score. Spain had easy shots and their players moved into space. Netherland could have done better by choosing one player from the opposing team because they were all over the place. And by looking at the goal, you can see that only one player from the opposing team was going after Iniesta; the rest of the players were waiting for the ball to come. And Van der Vaart was trying to tackle the ball from Iniesta but he was behind him, so he could have been infront, then he would have got the ball and stopped Iniesta from scoring.

  7. What individual skills have been used by the attacking team? The attackers would mostly stop the ball; aim it, and then kick using the inside of their shoes (01.49-01.55). Sometimes they would kick the ball using their head (00.07- 00.12). They would even kick the ball back, using the heel of the shoe (12.09-12.15).

  8. Was there any movement ‘off the ball’ by other attackers to draw defenders away from the goal scorer? If yes what happened and what was the effect of this? Yes there was movement ‘off the ball’. Many of the players in the Spain team were marking the Netherland players, and the effect of this was that it helped Spain because Netherlands was not able to score a single goal. The Spanish attackers that don’t have the ball positioned themselves in possible places to score. So the Netherland defenders moved away from their goal to block those players in the other team.
