EcoPlasBrick Innovative recycled plastic based panels for building field AGREEMENT NUMBER: ECO/10/277233 6 Months Meeting Napoli, 31 January 2012
Project Plan Objectives Actions Project scope: to promote a new industrial process for eco sustainable building panels To manufacture two finished products
Plan Number of hours budgeted
Consortium Agreement • Task 5.2 – Deliverable 5.2.1 Art. 8 “The Parties expressly recognize that the project results may be granted in non-exclusive licence to third parties, where this is expressed by the co-owners holding at least 30% of the ownership of the project and in any case involving Alessia Guarnaccia and / or Pandora GROUP”
EcoPlasBrick Innovative recycled plastic based panels for building field AGREEMENT NUMBER – ECO/10/277233 Task 2.1 Requirement Definition
Requirement Definition Ecoplasbrick is a panel made of a mixed plastic waste core with two face sheets of gres, or other materials to be identified. So, it can be considered a sandwich panel. As sandwich panel it can be tested according to the relevant ASTM standards.
Requirement Definition External wall claddings For the time being, there isn’t a European specific Standard for products used as outdoor cladding; however, in order to identify the Ecoplasbrick panel requirements, an analysis of the commercial products used for the same application was carried out. Depending on the identified material of Ecoplasbrick panel face sheets, the panel characterization according to the reference standard will be necessary.
Requirement Definition Other interesting features for the complete characterization of the cladding are:
Requirement Definition Ventilated facades claddings There are no European standards for ventilated façades but a specific guideline, drafted by EOTA (European Organisation for Technical Approvals), is under preparation; in particular, the document ETAG034 – Part 1 (Edition May 2011) refers the external claddings and associated mechanical fixings intended to be used with a ventilated air space and lists the tests for panel characterisation: Content and/or release of dangerous content Pulsating load Dimensional stability of external cladding Immersion in water Freeze-thaw Chemical and biological resistance Corrosion UV radiation
Requirement Definition Properties of interest for the market
Requirement Definition Raised floors European Raised Flooring Systems now fall into two main Specification Categories. Those being PSA MOB PF2 PS and the new European Standard EN 12825:2001. The majority of raised flooring manufactured comes in a standard 600 mm x 600 mm floor panel size and will be supported on steel adjustable understructure .
Requirement Definition Raised floors - Mechanical resistance According to EN 12825 panels are graded by their ultimate loading capacity or Class.
Requirement Definition • Raised floors • Fire ratings • Fire resistance EN 13501-2:2009 • Fire reaction EN 13501-1:2009 • Electrical characteristics: • A raised floor can be antistatic, conductive or insulating • EN 1081:2001 • Soundproofing • ISO Standard N. 140
Requirement Definition Raised floors : Properties of interest for the market
Requirement Definition Conclusions : Most important tests on panels
Requirement Definition Conclusions : Most important tests on panels Tests on the final vertical and horizontal solutions (e.g. ultimate load test for raised floors) will be better identified and carried out in the validation tasks foreseen in the Work Package 3 once designed the bearing structures and the associated fixing elements
