  1. Jewish Rabbis on The Sin that is Zionism

  2. Rabbi Nachman, Ukraine(1722-1810) “I will reveal a secret to you. There will be a great disbelief in the world. The disbelief will come from Above as a test. Now I know that my people will truly strengthen themselves in faith and remain firm in their belief even without this. However, I reveal this to you now so that they will strengthen themselves even more knowing this has been foreseen and discussed.”

  3. Shalom Dov Ber Schneerson, Lubavitch (1773 – 1827) "Regarding your question about the Zionists, allow me to respond briefly. Those who assist the Zionists will pay at the day of judgment, because they are causing the masses to sin. Therefore, whoever is on the side of g-d and his torah shall not join with evildoers and not become attached to them. On the contrary, they should oppose them as much as possible."

  4. Rabbi Hirsch, Germany.(1808 - 1868) “During the reign of Hadrian when the uprising led by Bar Kochba proved a disastrous error, it became essential that the Jewish people be reminded for all times of an important, essential fact, namely that (the people of) Israel must never again attempt to restore its national independence by its own power; it was to entrust its future as a nation solely to Divine Providence”

  5. “This close connection with states everywhere is not at all in contradiction to the spirit of Judaism, for the independent national life of Israel was never the essence or purpose of our existence as a nation, but a means of fulfilling our spiritual mission”

  6. Rabbi  Yehoshua Leib Diskin, Lithuainia.(1816-1896) "The rabbis of the generation should gather together and issue a writ of excommunication against the Zionists and eject them from the Jewish People, and make decrees against their bread and wine, and to forbid marrying with them, JUST LIKE OUR SAGES DID WITH THE SAMARITANS."

  7. Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld, Iraq(1832 - 1909)Leader of the Orthodox Jewish community in Jerusalem and a staunch anti Zionist "The Jews do not want, in any way, to take that which isn't theirs. And they certainly do not want to contest the rights of the other inhabitants to the places held by them which they regard with honor and consider holy. And in particular there is no foundation to the rumor that the Jews want to acquire the Temple Mount. On the contrary, from the time that, because of our sins, we have been lacking the purity required by the Torah, it is forbidden for any Jew to set foot upon the grounds of the Temple Mount, until the coming of the righteous Messiah, who with the spirit of the Lord which will hover over him, will rule righteously, for the good of all creation, and will return to us the purity required by the Torah."

  8. Rabbi Yehoshea Dzikover .. .As to the claim of these hypocritical rabbis that it is our duty to love aven heretics, with the sayings of our Sages which they cite in support of this, it should be pointed out that they have distorted their holy words into the opposite of what they meant. In my opinion, the benediction in our prayers against the informers applies to the Zionists, who defame us by alleging that the Jewish People is treacherous, G-d forbid, to kingdoms, and is in revolt against governments. THERE ARE NO SLANDERERS AS DANGEROUS AS THEZIONISTS. In the words of King Solomon: "Thorns and traps on a crooked path, he who would preserve his life will keep away from them."

  9. “For our many sins, strangers have risen to pasture the holy flock, men who say that the people of Israel should be clothed in secular nationalism, a nation like all other nations, that Judaism rests on three things, national feeling, the land and the language, and that national feeling is the most praiseworthy element in the brew and the most effective in preserving Judaism while the observance of the torah and the commandments is a private matter dependent on the inclination of each individual.  May the lord rebuke these evil men and may he who chooseth Jerusalem seal their mouths.”

  10. Rabbi Yosef Rozen of Dvinsk, LatviaRogatchover(1858 – 1936) we should test God and strive with him concerning the length of the Exile in order to be masters in the Holy Land. To those who share these Zionist views but profess to be believers, whose lips drip with Torah and piety, I have this to say: Do you not know that Zionism and self-rule are VANITY AND PURSUIT OF EMPTINESS AND IMITATION? Why do you despise the Torah and stretch out your hand to transgressors tainted with HERESY, and why do you not consider in whose company you go?

  11. Rabbi Shaul Brach,Hungary1865 – 1940) "Since the dawn of the Zionist movement, suffering has not ceased to exist in the world. All the warnings of the Torah have been fulfilled in their details among our People all over the world. For a believer it is no surprise that the Zionists are the same as the heretics at the time of the Destruction of the Temple. Thus, divine judgment has been unleashed on the entire world. As far as our brethren in America who support the Zionist heresy in the Holy Land are concerned, if they don't face up to the truth, in liberal AMERICA they will quickly feel the effects of the verse, "With anger poured out will I rule over you." May G-d have mercy.

  12. Rabbi Chaim Elazar Shapiro (1871-1936), Ukraine “While I was in the city of Marinbad during the violence that took place in Hebron and Jerusalem, I prepared a proposal to calm the situation, including that I should travel that very day to Prague and Vienna to visit the representatives of the British government to promote an opportunity to change the situation whereby the ultra-Orthodox parties who were sympathetic to the idea of the Declaration would retract their support of it in a radio broadcast (since in any case there was no positive purpose to the Balfour Declaration, but rather it served only to incite anger and hatred on the part of the Arabs).”

  13. “How long will the Zionists be permitted to lead into a trap? One need not fear contention and discord with them, since they have already brought it about. In the book, Gates of Repentance, paragraph 59, we find 'HE WHO DOES NOT ENTER INTO CONFLICT WITH THOSE WHO STAND ON A BAD PATH IS PUNISHED FOR THEIR TRANSGRESSIONS AND FOR ALL THEIR SINS…”

  14. “All our predecessors unanimously held the view that anyone identified with the name of Israel, should he see his fellow man walking in a path that is not good or accepting counsel that is not seemly, as the duty of restoring him and of leading him to a path on which he will not stumble.  Similarly, should he see an evil man oppress his fellow man and mislead him, he is bound to exert all his efforts to deliver the victim from his trouble.  How much more can this be applied to a matter relating to the whole people seeing that through the Zionists the Exile will be prolonged and many calamities—Heaven forbid—revived.  There can be no harm greater than to arouse conflicts with the nations and to make Israel feared as a source of revolt on the plea that the soul of the whole people is bitter on account of the Exile”

  15. Rabbi Baruch Kaplan, Hebron.(20th) “When I was in Hebron in 1929, there occurred the tragic massacre of over twenty yeshiva students, great scholars, plus another forty members of the Jewish community. I would like to describe the error that has circulated in Jewish communities – a horrible error, that accuses the Arabs in Hebron of being murderers who attacked the Jews simply because the Arabs were “bad people.” In order to correct the record, this error must be corrected. The Arabs were very friendly people, and the Jewish People in Hebron lived together with them and had very friendly relations with them. They worked for Jews, and everybody got along just fine.”

  16. “To take just one example, I used to have the habit of walking a mile or two out of town all by myself to visit a tree that was believed to be the tree where our patriarch Abraham met the three angels, as described in Genesis. I especially enjoyed visiting the tree in the summertime. Along the way I would talk to the Arabs, though it was mostly using our hands because I didn’t speak any Arabic. Interestingly enough, no one in the yeshiva ever told me it was dangerous to go by myself among the Arabs. We just lived with them, and got along very well.”

  17. “I have also seen a letter from the Grand Rabbi of the Gerrer Hassidim of those days, Rabbi Avraham Mordechai Alter of Poland, regarding his trip to the Holy Land during the days when people were talking about emigrating to Palestine. He wanted to find out what kind of people the Palestinians were, in order to be able to advise people whether to move there or not. He wrote in his letter that the Arabs were a very friendly and fine people. Therefore it’s necessary to set the record straight about the accusations that the Palestinians were terrible killers who liked attacking Jews. This was never the situation at all!”

  18. “Today’s wicked Zionists are just like their predecessors, who were responsible for causing terrible suffering in Palestine with their wars with the Arabs, may G-d have mercy. At that time in 1929, the Zionists had a slogan arguing that the Western Wall in Jerusalem was a Jewish “national symbol.” Of course, the Arabs disagreed with this idea, considering that they had control of the location for over 1,100 years. However, the Zionist mobs were yelling that “The Wall is ours!” It’s hard to understand why they felt that way considering they have no connection to the Jewish holy places whatsoever. An argument erupted in the Jewish newspapers about establishing a permanent prayer area for Jews at the Wall. This provoked the Arabs, and the rabbi of Jerusalem at the time, Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld begged them to stop and to be appreciative to the Arabs for allowing Jews to pray at the Wall for so many centuries undisturbed. However, the Zionists wanted a permanent setup under their control.”

  19. “The Zionists refused to heed the calls of Rabbi Zonnenfeld, and they called a large meeting of Jews in Jerusalem – supposedly some 10,000 people showed up. One of the speakers was their “chief Rabbi” (Avraham Isaac Kook), who proclaimed, “Hear O Israel, the Wall is our Wall, the Wall is One” (which is a ridiculous pun on the blessing, “Hear O Israel, the Lord your God, the Lord is One”). This began the conflict at the time between the Zionists and the Arabs.”

  20. “However, not a single leader of any of those political parties in Marinbad wanted to do so. They even attempted to suggest that the Balfour Declaration was an awesome concept (I do not want to go into details about these political issues) in order to save Jewish souls facing oppression. But the truth of the matter is that this was all merely posturing, and their true interest was in following along after their Zionist heretic masters for purposes of power, money and honor. Woes to us that such things have arisen in our generation.”

  21. Chief Rabbi Yosef tzvi Dushinsky(20th century) “When in mid November of 1947, it became evident that through Zionist and Communist pressure the United Nations would vote for the partition of Palestine into Jewish and Arab states, Rav Dushinsky appealed, in the name of 60,000 Jewish Orthodox residents, to the United Nations by cable and a memorandum following, that Jerusalem should not be included in the Jewish state and should be given international status.”

  22. Rabbi Mordechai Gifter, Ohio(20th century) “But herein lies one other thing:  The "language" from today's hatred is completely new, and this is a phenomenon to which we have to devote thought and which we must take into account.  Today's language proclaims that it is not the Jews who are bad - it is only Zionism which is a curse on the world.  Our villifiers don't say "anti-Jews", only "anti-Zionism".  We know that they mean Jews, but the language is not Jews, only Zionists.  And this is a clear and novel approach which, since the time there were Jews and there was anti-Semitism, was never before used as a method of bringing out the hatred.  It means that we have to think about it, and when a Jew thinks and looks at the annals of the past, he has much to learn.”

  23. On Behalf of the Rabbinical Court of the Ultra-orthodox Community of JerusalemA SERIOUS WARNING “We hereby view with great seriousness the provocations of the savages against the Arabs that endangers the entire Jewish community in the Holy Land, G-d forbid. These wild actions are carried out by provocateurs in order to pull in the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish community into the frightful provocations, the result of which is catastrophic and destructive to the Ultra-Orthodox community, and places the entire Jewish community in terrible danger, G-d forbid.WE UNEQUIVOCALLY AND ABSOLUTELY CONDEMN AND DENOUNCE THESE SAVAGE ACTIONSWe hereby state that Ultra-Orthodox Jews have no connection or link to the provocations against the Arabs.”THEREFORE WE HEREBY ISSUE THIS EXTREMELY SERIOUS WARNING BY VIRTUE OF THE POWER OF THE HOLY TORAH TO BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL IN THIS MATTER.
