Punjab civil services examination is a three tier Combined competitive exam, conducted by PPSC for recruitments to the various administrative jobs , For Example SDM, DSP, ETO, BDO etc. The PCS Exam is considered the gateway to most prestigious bureaucrats class at the state level. Punjab Public Service Commission conducts the exam in three stages- Prelims- It consists of two objective type exams. Mains- It consists of 6 subjective type exams. Personality test- Oral Examination structure
The prelims exam is the first step towards getting entry into the civil services at Punjab state level. The PCS prelims exam acts like a screening test i.e. the score obtained in this exam will not be counted while preparing the final merit list. the purpose of prelims exam is to shortlist candidates for the PCS mains exam on cut off basis. Approx 13 times. Selection Procedure
The PCS mains exam consists of series of 6 subjective type of examination. The score obtained in the PCS mains exam is counted for final selection list.. PCS Interviews/ Personality test After clearing the two hurdles of PCS preliminary and PCS mains exam there comes the final round. Candidates are short listed on the basis of score obtained in PCS mains exam. Some oral questions are asked in this stage. After the PCS Interview -2018 the final list will be published by the PPSC on the basis of PCS 2018 Mains and PCS 2018 Interview Marks The Candidate with maximum marks will be ranked first Selection Procedure
A Candidate must be Indian citizens to be eligible for PCS-2018 Exam A candidate need to be at least a graduate in any course from a recognized University Age should be between 21 to 37 years for General Category Eligibility Criteria for PCS-2018
Syllabus for PCS Prelims is very vast as in UPSC IAS. it consist of General Studies ( HISTORY , POLITY , Geography , Every Day Science , Economy and Current Affairs ) Mental ability and Language ability ( English and Punjabi) In addition it consist of Punjab History , Geography and Culture . As per insights from previous year PCS exams, The questions are dynamic in nature. It means these are closely linked with the current affairs and issues.
