  16. Successful Paths to Hot Careers, Best Education & Perfect Jobs: Partnering with Business & Industry and Community Organizations • STEM Products and Processes • The goal of “STEM Products and Processes” is to introduce students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) careers by showing and demonstrating something that you DO, USE or MAKE within your work. • Here are a few suggestions to help you prepare for this event. • Please bring in a product or pieces/components of a process and as many hands-on tools • Ask students what they think the next steps are and then demonstrate,. • Discuss how team work, collaboration, time management, self direction and problem solving is used. • Talk about how a product is tested before it is sent to market. How does failure work into the process • Talking to children about your career and showing them the tools you use will plant a seed that will keep them motivated to do their best in school. • Keep your language simple – • When you are showing a piece of equipment to students, make sure all of the children can see. • Move around when speaking so the children can see you. • Set aside time for questions.  Allow time for the children to investigate and handle materials that are safe. • Emphasize your responsibility for being at work on a daily basis, being on time, doing your job well, and working cooperatively with others. • And of course, don’t forget to bring the product you’ve created. • We appreciate the time and effort you are making toward this event. Through your volunteer participation we can broaden the educational experience of these children and introduce them to new possibilities. Thank you!
