  3. Why do we offer the Fellowship? Fellowships are a key part of CRRC activity because we want to • build research capacity • increase knowledge of and about the South Caucasus • help local researchers succeed CRRC Publication Fellowship

  4. What exactly is the "Publication Fellowship"? Fellows will • do original research • on a social-science topic of their choice • submitting it to a peer-reviewed journal CRRC Publication Fellowship

  5. What topics? Issues that are broadly public-policy relevant • building on existing research • focused • rigorous • "transformative" CRRC Publication Fellowship

  6. Where to go for ideas? Additional ideas to be found • Millenium Development Goals • connecting theory to local case • describing local developments (migration, democratisation, formal vs informal institutions) CRRC Publication Fellowship

  8. Who is the Publication Fellowship for? The PFs are designed for local applicants with • a track record in research and/or higher education • a Master's degree • functional English (exceptions for quantitative or survey work) • research teams welcome! CRRC Publication Fellowship

  9. How do we do the PF? A "supported challenge" • reaching recognised benchmarks • working with peers • engaging partners • application = first training CRRC Publication Fellowship

  10. Why would you want to do the PF? Professional and personal opportunities • follow your curiousity • have your work recognized internationally • get financial support (minimum 2000 USD; for some projects more) • meet excellent researchers from the region and abroad! CRRC Publication Fellowship

  11. Specific opportunities that follow? Once you are published, new doors open: • become part of an international scholarly network • better chances in further applications (stipends, funding, PhD, conferences) • better consulting and job opportunities CRRC Publication Fellowship

  12. What obstacles? We select those who really want to do research • Engaging, but radically different application system • Challenging research design development • Up-front thinking required CRRC Publication Fellowship
