  2. REALISTIC FICTIONRULES 12-year-old Catherine has a brother, David, who has autism. Catherine has an endless list of rules of David to follow in order to help him function as normally as possible. This summer, Catherine is looking forward to having a new neighbor her age, Kristi, as her best friend, But in order for this to happen, Catherine feels she must hide David and his autistic behavior. Instead, she finds a friend in Jason, a wheelchair-bound boy whom she sees when taking David to occupational therapy with her mother twice a week. Jason helps Catherine in her acceptance of both his and David's needs while Catherine helps Jason break free of his mother's restrictions by showing him new experiences.
