Tillage is disruption of soil structure by a plow or some other mechanical device
Advantages • Loosens soil • Aerate • Helps kill weeds • Helps mix in crop residue • Drying of the soil
Disadvantages • Loses nutrients and ability to hold water • Runoff is a lot higher • Erosion happens at a rapid pace due to the soils inability to hold water • Compact the soil • Reduce organic matter • Drying of the soil
Advantages • Prevents erosion • Increase water and organic matter • Less compaction • Save money • Less work and time needed • Reduce carbon gasses being released into the air
Disadvantages • More weeds • Use of herbicides • Hold to much water • Attracts unwanted insects • Use of pesticides
