Learning Objects – Cont. • Courses are looked at as basically 15 parts ( 1 – three hour part per week) • Learning Objects breaks down the concept even further to approaching the 3 hours section down to smaller bites • Look it as portion control: vs.
Why Do We Do It This Way? • The DL Student is more likely to approach the weekly lesson in short amounts of time. • Best to have instructor create smaller packages • Face to face students like to have supporting material. • Easier for the instructor to change something if they so desire. • Also allows for use across other courses
Learning Objects (LOs) • Can include short audio segments or recorded problem solving sessions • Students can listen to LOS before class as preparation • Can be referred back to for reference throughout program • ITMS can help instructors produce learning objects • Instructional Design & Multimedia Learning Objects
