What is the purpose? • The purpose of this presentation is to inform you of East Side’s progress over the last 3 years on the CRCT. • We will discuss our school’s strengths, as well as, our weaknesses. • We will also make a plan for the future!
Staff Demographics – East Side • Administrators: 3, 2 females and 1 male • Teachers: 71, 66 females and 5 males
Looking Back • We will look back at East Side’s CRCT scores over the last three years and compare their scores against the county’s. • As we look at each slide think about the following: • Do we have more students meeting and exceeding the standards versus the county as a whole? • From year to year have we made progress with our 3rd and 5th graders?
Spring 2011 CRCT – 3rd Grade n = number of students tested Reading n = 167 ELA n = 167 Math n = 168 n = number of students tested Reading n = 8,168 ELA n = 8,168 Math n = 8,177
Spring 2011 CRCT – 5th Grade n = number of students tested Reading n = 8,159 ELA n = 8,142 Math n = 8,039 n = number of students tested Reading n = 171 ELA n = 171 Math n = 172
Spring 2012 CRCT – 3rd Grade n = number of students tested Reading n = 7,948 ELA n = 7,980 Math n = 8,022 n = number of students tested Reading n = 192 ELA n = 192 Math n = 193

Where are East Side’s strengths and weaknesses? • With the implementation of Columbia’s Reading and Writing Workshop models over the last three years, we have seen an increase in our Reading and ELA scores. • Last year we saw a small decrease in the number of 5th grade students exceeding in Reading and ELA, however, we are still much higher than the county average. • We have made no change in our 3rd and 5th grade Math scores between Spring 2012 and 2013.
East Side’s Focus • What should our focus be next year? Math! • Within Math what areas do we need to improve? Geometry and Measurement • How are we going to make improvements? Singapore Trainings, manipulative kits, and accurate data collection and analysis
Looking ahead, how can we use this information to improve instruction here at East Side?
