As both teams came out looking like champions, The Wind Bowl would go down in the books as one of the most exciting games to watch in Parkway’s now very brief history. Just like the wind, the Terrapins came out strong as Ethan Graver’s rushing TD on the Terps second play of the game put the Terps on the board early.  The Bears tried to answer with their air attack only to see recently traded, rookie sensation Jordan Burrage-Cobb, intercept a “windy ball” deep in his own endzone and return it for a touchdown. The Bears were able to rally with big rushes from the “Fab 4” of Bella Edwards, Zack Sands, Ben Davis, & Assem Chew. Jasper “Crazy Legs” Bowles scrambling made for an entertaining contest. Richmond The Jackson “4” Send us your Pictures!! The Steelers and Panthers squared off in a cage match that found the Panthers salivating for a win. But the Steelers methodical running attack, team speed, and a key defensive interception dried the Panther tongues keeping their undefeated season alive. Despite the wind, the Steelers Kendall Trautz showcased his cannon of an arm going 4 for 5 and 2 passing touchdowns to Weslee Richmond (Jalen Jackson credited for the reception on the extra point). But it was the methodical running attack by DJ “Disco” Jackson and Myckel “Magic” Richmond, Jalen “Jukester” Jackson, and Donnie “Lights Out” Jackson who all scored rushing touchdowns. For those of you keeping score at home,… yes all the Jacksons are brothers. Mama Jackson’s recipe for “speed and quickness” will be coming to a bookstore near you soon. The Panthers clawed their way back when Darius “Rocket’ Grady blasted off on a sweep in the first half… with fire in his eyes, he would not be denied the endzone. The highlight came when Grady “burped” the football before handing over “his baby” to the referee. With the score 18-6, the Steelers then executed one of their precision “Ocho Cinco” plays with a perfect crossing route to put the score up to 25-6. With a flicker of hope, the Panthers “never quit attitude” was led by Zack “Baked ZD” Davis as he took the rock to the house, dusted it off and threw the ball into the crowd (he would later be fined one juice box after the game). Beginning to feel pretty good about their chances of a come back, the Panthers purr soon became silent as the Steel curtain saved 2 potential touchdowns by the Panthers and sealed the victory with a key interception late in the game. In the end, the Steelers continued their roll through the league with a 32-14 victory. They next face the 2-0 Highlanders this coming Friday night. Highlanders Defense Stifles The Jets When the Highlanders signed defensive ends Clayton Noble and Drew Smith to a ridiculous amount of incentives (King Size Snickers bars for stopping the outside), management wasn’t sure if they would live up to the bargain. But, they earned their keep Sunday as they shut down the Jets running attack sealing a 34-6 victory. With the outside under complete control by Smith and Noble, Linebacker, Josh “JYD (Junk Yard Dog)” Blaz was able to blitz like there was no tomorrow, creating havoc in the Jets backfield. Marcus “ Mad Dog” Williams’ inside containment and “flag tackling technique” was all the Jets could handle. (Please see HIGHLANDERS on page 3)

3. Highlanders 34 Jets 6 (cont.) Smith later on SportsCenter was quoted as saying “I don’t even like Snickers bars. I’m more of a Hershey kind of guy.” Smith’s agent is currently seeking an addendum to Smith’s contract for Hershey Bars rather than Snickers. Despite the showcase of one strong arm by the Jets QB, Dylan Jeffries, the Highlanders were able to stop his many “bomb” attempts. Later, the Highlanders coach Edwards was quoted as saying that he could feel a couple of grey hairs coming in when Jeffries threw those bombs. Offensively, the Highlanders Kyle “Speedy Gonzales” Menke gained over 100 yards rushing (200 hundred yards if you count the yards he went back and forth across the field as he daringly change direction numerous times… again adding more grey hairs to the Highlanders coach). He was a major contributor with 3 touchdowns. A highlight of the game came when Menke attempted his 4th rushing touchdown, only to have a Highlander Parent notice he stepped out of bounds. The parent was later seen being removed by security. Despite the wind, the Highlanders Jacob Edwards was able to compile 2 touchdown passes to Thomas “TG” Gill and Ryan, “The Glue” Menke. Gators Fend Off Packers in OT The Gators knocked off the Packers last Sunday 30-24 in an overtime thriller.  The Packers showed a lot of heart in bouncing back from a 24-12 deficit to tie the game in the waning seconds.  However, the Gators ‘D’ went to the well to which … “Naturally they called it Gator-Aid”… and stopped the extra point conversion, sending the game into OT. After winning the toss, the Packers worked their way to midfield only to come up short of a first down when Packer’s receiver, Austen Curran, almost made a picturesque catch. The future Hall of Famer could only smile as he knew that doesn’t happen very often. (see GATORS on next page)

4. Gators 30 Packers 24 in OT (continued) (continue from page 3). On the Gators first play from scrimmage Jack “Close Shave” Shaffer took a handoff up the middle, broke to his right and raced 45 yards untouched for the game winner.  Despite a swirling 40-mph tropical wind, the Gators showcased Jackson “V-Man” Viccora in his season debut at QB as he threw a rope to Jeremy “All Day Every Day” Day for a TD on the Gators trademarked “criss-cross” play (Patent Pending).  Jack Shaffer and Eric “The Dazzler” Rinker both broke several long runs and kept the Packers off balance with their juking moves.  In the end, the Gators balanced attack to move the ball effectively on the ground and through short passes was what kept the Gators undefeated.  Two Coaching Warriors Meet on the Fields of Friendly Strife When they first saw the schedule, old friends, Trojan’s Coach Griscavage and the Hokie’s Coach Hasan both knew that week 2 would be highlighted in yellow on their respective calendars… okay, Hasan marked his in Hokie Orange. And Sunday met all the week’s hype leading up to the game as the two battle-tested coaches wage in an blockbuster flag football chess match. The Trojans, coming off a tough week 1, hungry for a win, faced the talented and well-coached Hokies.  Jefferson “JG” Griscavage continued to dance with receiver Stephen “Lightening” Luteran as the two hooked up for the Trojans’ first touchdown.  Charlie “The Gamer” Garner consistently made crisp snaps to QB Nickel “The Cannon” Foster and both Yet “Wild Man” Fekadu and Emilio “Young Gun” Minoso made their way into the end zone for Trojan touchdowns.  On defense, the Trojans exhibited true teamwork by limiting the speedy Hokie offense to 12 points.  With minutes left in the 1st half, Cal “Can Do” Cary intercepted a pass and returned it for a touchdown.  Though a close contest, the Trojans prevailed with a final score 24-12. Coach Griscavage was shown tossing reporters aside as he made his way to Coach Hasan to shake his hand. PSPN (Parkway Sports and Programming Network) was able to see Hasan whisper something in Coach Griscavage’s ear… “wait till Week 4, ol’ buddy”. The hype has already begun. Extra!
