Importance of Immigration Topic • We are a Nation of Immigrants. • How should that define our Country? • There are an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the U.S.
Government’s Policies and Attitudes • Our system is broken, it effects: • The welfare of our Society • The Business Sector • Our Population
Citizenship Undocumented Entrance How hard it is to get in to the US legally ‘The U.S. immigration process can be frustrating for her and her clients, as well as the dozens of people who walk into her office seeking help only to be told that there is nothing she can do because of the way the law is set up and how the individual arrived in the country (Herras).’ • Smuggled in • Overstaying your visa limit • Ramped up border patrol and fencing to keep people from coming here
Employers hiring Illegal Immigrants - similar skill set between legal and illegal employees - decline in fines imposed on employers who hire illegal immigrants - economy downturn - competitive industry - capitalistic and profit driven economy - discrimination against people of similar heritage to undocumented workers

Possible Answers Recognition that our system is broken Unified policies on a Federal level Possible guest worker for the illegal immigrants DREAM Act Congress needs to start acting instead of just promising
