  4. Achievements and Some features of these cases • Since 2008, China customs seized 79smuggling waste cases, seized solid waste more than 21,335 tons. • Some Features 1\2\3\4\5 LOGO

  5. Operation DEMETER in China ☆From 10 April to 20 May 2009, some key-ports had strengthened the control of wastes. During operation DEMETER , China customs detected 30 smuggling cases, seized 9194.7 tons solid waste from Canada、United States、Netherlands 、Germany etc. Statistics of operation DEMETER in China LOGO

Face Future ⒈Improve the risk-analysis system and intensify training, Strengthen customs staff enforcement capacity. ⒋Enhance the coordination with MEP, strengthen law enforcement on combating disserve-environment crime. ⒉Implement the international conventions actively, continue the mechanisms established in DEMETER operations. Next steps ⒌Enhance the cooperation between EU member customs and other international agency, strengthen exchange information and share enforcement experience. ⒊Establish check-and combat-smuggling work system on the base of illegal trade database.
