Common Action 4.3.2 SUPPORT MARINAS IN ACHIEVING THE BLUE FLAG LABEL
Blue Flag is a highly respected and recognized international eco-label, awarding marinas around the world that are helping to raise environmental awareness and increase good environmental practicesamong marina management, staff and recreational boaters. More info: www.blueflag.org
Partners will work cooperatively with marina administrators and FEE National Representative Organizations, towards sustainable development of regional/local marinas: water quality, environmental education and information, environmental management, safety and other services Leader: Rui Dias of Interceltica with Portos de Galicia and NEF (and APPB ?)
We have asses different possibilities:a) International conferenceb) Regional/Local conference + Technical seminars (if possible) We decided that one regional/local conference + technical seminars (if possible) is the best way to reach the objectives of the actions increase the number of marinas with blue flag.
And that because of:- Different budgets of the partners involved, - Financial difficulties raise to make a European conference (no regional/ no practical inputs), and - Different “starting points” from each region. Besides, the organization could support, if the NEA2 budget is enough or using the organisation's own resources, the purchase of some equipments or installations necessaries for obtaining the blue flag
The regional/local conference and the technical seminars would have a common methodology, the results would be shared with the rest of the partners involved in the action and we will set up a common display of indicators.
REGIONAL/LOCAL CONFERENCE (proposed methodology) Each partner involved: Contact with the national bureau of FEE (Foundation for Environmental Education) Elaboration of a program of the conference (always in touch with the national bureau of FEE) Invitation to all the public and private concerned organizations of the region, specially: Municipalities Managers of marinas Stakeholders of the ports Distribution de promotional stuff of the project including the necessary information to obtain the “blue flag”
